The Tortoise and the Hare

It happens every year without fail. Half term, Halloween and Bonfire night come and go and then suddenly the bright fairy lights of Christmas seem to suddenly appear out of nowhere.

Don’t get us wrong, we love this time of year but it can also be stressful when people start casually mentioning that they have already done half  of their Christmas shopping whilst we are telling our children that it’s not appropriate weather to still be wearing shorts to school.

So...this year we are going to make a concerted effort to take a leaf out of the Tortoise’s book and enjoy the calm and quiet of November before the frenzied excitable activity of December begins.

Here are a few ways in which we are hoping to achieve this:

We will be visiting The Spirit of Christmas Fair.  We were very lucky to win some tickets courtesy of Plum & Ashby

The Spirit of Christmas has about 900 independent boutique retailers and designer-makers and it’s far enough in the diary before Christmas so that we can enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace and hopefully pick up some wonderful gifts whilst we are there.

We are also going to try to shop local, supporting small businesses where we can. Just this week alone we have had flyers through our door for two exciting events local to us :-

Lee Green Open Studios is an annual event which takes place over two weekends in November based around the SE12 area. Local residents and visitors to the area have free access, to a broad range of arts, most of which are available to purchase.

Brockley Brewery are announcing that they are opening a tap room in an industrial estate in Hither Green, a very exciting location and right on our doorstep.

Lastly we are also going to keep our eyes out online for other independent brands, like ourselves, and support them as much as possible. The following is so so true.

Online shopping is stress free and a win win as you can support small businesses from the comfort of your own home whilst avoiding pounding the cold and crowded high street.

Leith & Gray even offer complimentary note cards and (for a small fee) gift wrapping so you don’t even need to wrap any presents you order from us. We can also send them direct to the recipients door with FREE UK DELIVERY. What could be easier? Especially if you live abroad and are looking to buy presents for friends and family in the UK.

We hope you enjoy your November and don’t let it pass you by in a blur like our friend below.
